Dun Laoghaire Golf Club

Dun Laoghaire Golf Club sits dramatically between mountains and the sea in Ballyman Glen, a uniquely beautiful valley on the borders of Counties Dublin and Wicklow. The club needed a new website to help promote their club to visitors, and to provide the club’s members with a resource for keeping up to date with club news, events, results and a variety of social activities within the club. They also needed a more efficient way to communicate with their members.
The end result is a website that fulfills these goals, and more! The initial project concentrated on the public site, focusing on the guide to the three 9-hole courses and other information for visitors. We then worked together to develop a multi-function Members Area, which features a Members Event Calendar, Club News, Golf Results, Photo Galleries and individual areas for each Social Club.
A robust Member Management system was developed for the site, which allows the members to keep their personal information up to date and to easily find and contact each other through the site. This is tied into two communication tools that helps the club management to easily communicate with members via email, without needing to maintain a separate system. For general club announcements the system allows the management to send plain text emails to any Member Group or to all members from one interface. Finally, we also created a HTML Newsletter that the club staff can easily use to send monthly updates to the members, which also provides detailed feedback on the recipient activity.
The site was developed with Expression Engine, which allows the club to maintain the content of the site and easily publish new articles to any area of the site, keep track of feedback from the site contact forms and communicate with the members through one easy to use control panel.
